Nightmare reborn

A Necessary Evil?

    Since her return, Princess Luna has not had a vacation. She has been busy settling into her new responsibilities and everything else that has changed in the last thousand years. So she has been a little over due for one. But no sooner then she leaves, than Queen Chrysalis choses to attack Ponyville and Canterlot catching everyone completely by surprise.

    At first Luna hears of the attack, but is assured by Celestia that the situation is under control and not to worry the elements will take care of Chrysalis and her small changeling army. So Luna goes back to enjoying her holiday, however she can’t escape the feeling that something not right “why would Queen Chrysalis attack Ponyville with such a small force?”.

    Back in Canterlot, early reports of the battle in Ponyville seem encouraging. The mane six report that they have rounded up a lot of Chrysalis’s minions and the rest along with Chrysalis herself appear to be retreating into the Everfree, being chased by some royal guards Celestia had sent to Ponyville to assist Twilight and her friends. In Canterlot some more royal guards assisted from the air by the wonderbolts drive off the changeling’s who were attacking Celestia’s Shield. Twilight asks Celestia if they to should follow. Celestia answer that they should leave it to the royal guards and that Twilight should write an after battle report instead. However, just when it seems everything has calmed down, and Celestia drops her shield, the changeling’s launch a surprise two prong attack on both Ponyville and Canterlot at the same time. With many of the elite guards wondering around the Everfree and white tail forests, and the mane six gathered together unaware in Twilight’s study. Ponyville and Canterlot fall quickly to a massive changeling counterattack.

    Celestia to, is caught unaware of what was going on and barley has time to raise a shield over the throne room before it to is overcome by changeling minions.  Celestia finds out that Twilight and her friends have all been captured and she now has only a few precious seconds to send an urgent message to Luna before Chrysalis and her minions break down the barrier.

    Upon hearing of what has transpired in Canterlot, Luna teleports herself right into the throne room. However she doesn’t have much practice teleporting, and so Luna ends up teleporting herself about twenty feet in the air and ends up crashing clumsily to the floor.  Laughter erupts from the changeling minions in the room as Luna feebly attempts to right herself. Before Luna can gets to her feet and put her crown back on, Chrysalis takes it from her. While admiring her new prize Chrysalis mocks Luna “My that was some heroic entrance, It seems you will be even easier to beat than your sister. You know, maybe you should save yourself the embarrassment. This whole saving Equestria thing, really isn’t your cup of tea. You should just save everyone the trouble and go back to that rock in the sky for another thousand years of so and let a real queen run things for a while. I’ll take good care of your subjects!”

    When Chrysalis sees that Luna is not back down she further antagonizes Luna.  “Leave now while you still can, I am already more powerful than you or your sister! If you stay and fight I’ll just do to you what I already did to her!” Luna looks back at her sister lying on the ground battered, bruised and barley conscious. Luna looks around at the throne room filled with changelings and there freighted and incapacitate victims. At this sight Luna is filled with a rage she has not felt in a very long time. Luna grits her teeth a growls her response “YOU LIE!!! YOU OLD HAG!  you are no match for my sister or I in a fair fight. You use deceit to achieve your fleeting and feeble victories. You shall find this time no different form your last attempt to enslave pony kind, ON GUARD YOU WENCH!!!” with that Luna begins to charge up a spell to attack Chrysalis all the time unaware of the blind and savage rage coursing through her. However, Celestia is all too aware of it, she has felt this rage before, she felt it when Luna first turned into Nightmare Moon!  Celestia looks over at her sister wishing she could muster up the strength to teleport Luna out of here, or teleport Twilight and her friends in or even just yell at Luna, Anything to get Luna back to her senses.

    Does one evil cancel out another? Will Luna defeat Chrysalis? Will Luna defeat Chrysalis only to succumb to her dark side? Only time will tell.
